Let’s face it, everyone loves getting freebies. According to Empower Network, offering a freebie is one of the quickest and easiest ways to get people to sign up for your email list. The trick is to offer something that your audience will actually want to have.
First, you will have to get to know your core demographic. Learn what it is they will want to have and offer it to them. Are you a retail site? Offer a discount or a free piece of merchandise. Do you sell grills? Offer an eBook about the secrets to grilling. It does not matter what the free item you give is as long as your audience places value on it. They will sign up in record numbers to get their hands on it. Some will even sign up if they are only slightly interested, with the intent of getting off of the list later.
Make sure to let people know that they are opting-in to receive emails from you that may contain advertisements. Once they agree to this, they have double opted-in and you have a much better chance at success when emailing promotional advertisements or links to new items on the main website.
